The main disadvantages of fabric hammocks:
- insufficient moisture resistance. Due to the accumulation of moisture, the shape is broken and there is a risk of mold;
- vulnerability to ultraviolet. The product quickly loses color saturation. It is advisable that the hammock is in a shaded place, and does not fall under direct sunlight.
Polyester and Nylon Hammocks
Polyester is often combined with cotton. Such hammocks have all the advantages of cotton products, but are additionally protected from moisture and ultraviolet radiation. However, the maximum allowable load indicator is significantly deteriorating.
Nylon is also combined with different materials, but this leads to an increase in cost. Therefore, manufacturers use only nylon, such hammocks are distinguished by bright acid colors.

Important hammock differences
Simple tourist hammocks usually do not have mounting brackets. More advanced models are equipped with such a mount of wood or other material. A hammock without mounting straps is easier to transport, so it is well suited for hiking. But, resting on it for a long time will not work due to the constantly hunched back position. Such models are also not suitable for relaxing together.
Hammocks are classified as tourist and sports. Different models can be equipped with additional devices, such as:

The method of mounting hammocks
Classic hammocks are attached to two adjacent trees. The thickness of the trunk should be sufficient for the intended load. The more your weight, the thicker the trunk should be.
If there are no strong trees in the garden, you can look at frame models. Such hammocks can be installed almost anywhere, but their price, of course, is higher.
You can simply dig in 2 wooden poles with a thickness of at least 15 cm. Typically, holes 60-80 cm deep are enough.

There are models with one vertical mount. They are suitable for placement on a horizontal bar or indoors. In the latter case, simply attach the hammock to the ceiling.
Selection recommendations
When choosing a hammock for a summer residence or hiking, consider the following criteria:
- Location. Are there trees for placing a couch? Do I need a mosquito net to protect against mosquitoes?
- Allowed materials. For open areas, hammocks made of polyester are more suitable. For the shaded area - a model of burlap or cotton.
- Needs. For a simple rest, a regular hammock made of cotton fabric is suitable. If you plan frequent attacks on nature (hunting, fishing, hiking with outdoor activities), it is better to give preference to models made of nylon or polyester.
- The number of people who will simultaneously relax in a hammock. It is better to choose a model designed for at least two people.
- The most permissible load. Before buying, you need to clarify how much weight this or that model can support.
- Life time. Models without mounting strips are inferior to their counterparts in terms of strength and convenience. They are very difficult to repair. Hammocks with mounting rails are more durable.
